Because I am a true “foodie” in my everyday life, the granddaughter and niece of chefs, cooks and caterers… and a former fitness coach specializing in nourishing slow food & clean eating… with an early history of restaurant work ranging from fine dining to local diner… I have loved helping develop, write and market food and nutrition content for many digital programs, as highlighted below.
I also have a B2B background in food science and nutriceuticals, with early agency clients such Red Star Yeast and Dairy Management, and later, the supplement business promoted by Bally Total Fitness.

Food is the New Rock Podcast & Social Media Marketing
Food is the New Rock is a weekly podcast featuring famous food people & chefs who love music and musicians who love food. FitNR operates a tumblr site as well as instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages, and promotes with live podcasting from music and food festivals nationwide. I’ve signed on as marketing research and creative/editorial support to help the audience and show downloads grow and attract new revenue sources. A recent campaign revolved around Texas band Midlake, leading into SXSW and Southbites, and continuing with interviews in Austin of such notables as Jonathan Gold and David Chang.
The Skinny from Bally Total Fitness
Though Bally is no longer a national chain, at one time it was the largest health club chain in the world, with about 300 clubs in the U.S.. I served as Bally’s Senior Marketing Writer, and the Editorial Manager for the bi-weekly newsletter going to 2 million members nationwide. The content was initially aimed at member retention and club communication, but was also beginning to be developed for SEO, keywords and sponsorship monitization when, in early 2012, most of the assets were sold to another health club and I was part of the massive downsizing. I did maintain Bally as a client, with a much smaller newsletter for 30+ remaining clubs, until their sale in 2014.
I was one of the first 40 content writers for livestrong.com in its early days as an online resource. When I stopped writing for them in 2011, there were over 400 contributing writers. I also wrote fitness and nutrition news for them, human interest and travel features, widgit and app content, and more. At one time my byline appeared on hundreds of articles–most of which have now been replaced/cut, or updated by the current staff. Still, you can search the site for my name and find dozens still there. Did you know that green tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world, after water?
